What You Will Need to Bring
There are a few things that you will need to pack in order to have a successful pancake breakfast. Be sure to have:
- Lidded pouring container
- Travel forks and knives
- Mixing bowl (optional)
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup of sugar
- 1/4 cup of dry milk powder
- 4 tsp. of baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. of salt
For the dry ingredients, mix these items ahead of time. You can put these into a sealed baggie, or, if your lidded pouring container has a good seal, you can put the mixed dry ingredients in the container. Now you are already halfway there!
- 3/4 cup – 1 cup of water (for thicker batter use 3/4 cup)
- 1 large egg
- (optional) 1 tsp. of vanilla extract
- For Cooking…butter
You can do two things with the wet ingredients. Using a mixing bowl, stir the dry and wet ingredients together., or to make things really easy, you can add the wet ingredients directly to your lidded pouring container and shake. When you are ready to eat at your campsite, prepare by heating your skillet over your campfire. Add your butter and wait until it melts. Pour batter to the desired size in your skillet. Once you see bubbles form in the batter, flip and cook the remaining side. Remove from the skillet and serve with your desired toppings. Maple syrup, butter, fresh fruit, or any fun add ons you can think of. Grab a cup of coffee and enjoy!
